This installation positioned the oncoming human colonization of Mars planned by space industrialists as a point of focus to consider the effects of colonization on Earth. . At the center of the installation was the live artwork “The Interview”,  in which visitors could pick up a hotline phone, sit in a chair installed in front a 4ft x 4ft image of Mars,  and connect to a live conversation about Mars, spiritual beliefs, extra-terrestial themes, and the effects of militarized and colonizing behavior on Earth. The photographs and sculptures were arranged to provoke a kind of critical examination of the act of human exploration with militarism and the making of empire. Perspective lines were painted on the walls and intersected the “Long Line” sculpture assembled on the floor of the exhibit and trailed out to the lobby of the museum and throughout the staircase.

Four live acts corresponded with this exhibition: Prelude (performed by Mariana Valencia and Lydia Okrent), The Interview (MPA, Makayla Bailey, Rose Wonderfabulous), and Orbit and Assembly (Amapola Prada, Elizabeth Sonnenburg, MPA).
